Introduction

Stem cell cryo-preservation is a service that allows you to store this very important biological heritage. They can be extracted from both the amniotic fluid and the chorionic villi, in several moments of the pregnancy process:

1) Immediately after the delivery, by collecting the chorionic villi directly for the placenta that is ejected at birth;
2) During the pregnancy, while performing a prenatal screening test called CVS;
3) During the delivery, by performing a designed amniocentesis that can be performed for both natural and cesarean births;
4) During the pregnancy, while performing the amniocentesis at the second trimester for prenatal screening testing, or also at the 35th week (late amniocentesis).

The collected sample will then be processed at Biocell Center’s closest lab and then sent to one of Biocell Center’s cryo-banks for cryo-preservation. The cryo-preservation of samples collected at birth all around the world is performed solely in the US facility, based in Natick (MA).
